Supplements

Supplements are everywhere, but what do they actually do, and are they worth it? With so many products promising better health, more energy, or faster results, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

At their core, supplements are meant to fill nutritional gaps providing essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs, and probiotics. For people with restricted diets, nutrient deficiencies, or special needs (like pregnancy or aging), they can be incredibly useful.

Large studies like NHANES 2009–2012 show that supplement users tend to have fewer nutrient deficiencies, especially in vitamins A, C, D, E, magnesium, and zinc. That’s a strong case for their value in addressing common gaps in the modern diet.

But supplements aren’t a cure-all. Research shows that multivitamins don’t significantly lower the risk of chronic diseases like cancer or heart disease in healthy people. Their real benefit lies in targeted support.
